While the weather in Chile in February can differ across the country, this month still falls well within the Southern Hemisphere warm season. The sunny conditions in February are just as perfect as in January for outdoor activities, especially trekking through the breathtakingly varied landscapes of the country.   • The weather in Chile in February fluctuates quite a bit from one part of the country to another. For example, in Patagonia, temperatures average between 46°F and 62°F (8°C to 17°C). Meanwhile, Santiago enjoys warmer weather ranging from 54°F to 84°F (12°C to 29°C).
  • February is a month that is characterized by low rainfall, especially in the central and northern regions of the country. Because of this, inevitably, at this time of year, Chile is popular for its beaches and vineyard tours.
  • While Chile in February is less busy than in January, it’s still recommended to book accommodations and tours well in advance to be sure of availability. The country comes alive in February with cultural events and local festivities.

Is February a good time to Visit Chile?

If your goal is to escape the chillier northern winters, then February is an excellent time to visit Chile. Average daily temperatures in February   

Even though temperatures remain warm throughout the month, the weather in Chile in February can vary from one place to another, so check the temperatures for the places you intend to visit. Temperatures in Santiago can be a little unpredictable with highs reaching 84°F (29°C) and lows falling to about 54°F (12°C).

On the other hand, Patagonia has more consistent weather, with highs of about 62°F (17°C) and lows of about 46°F (8°C). On occasion, you may get gusty winds along with mild rainfall. Despite the Atacama Desert's reputation for a dry and warm climate, with daytime temperatures 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C), visitors should dress in layers because the nighttime temperatures drop significantly.

What about the crowds & cost?

February is a peak tourist month, so major tourist destinations will get a significant number of visitors, though less than in January as the vacation season is winding down. February is a popular month for outdoor activities in the south and exploring the vineyards and cultural sites in the central regions, meaning national parks, tours, and major attractions may be busy, although less so than in January. The cost of accommodations, tours, and airfare are typically more expensive than off-peak months. Reservation early ensures the best travel options and costs for your trip.

Whether you're drawn to the cultural richness of Easter Island, the energy of Northern Chile's carnivals, or the relaxing atmosphere of vineyard events, February offers a fantastic mix of opportunities to celebrate Chilean traditions.
