Is October a good time to visit Uzbekistan?
Yes! October is one of the best times to explore Uzbekistan. The weather is comfortable, the landscapes are at their fall best, and the pace of travel is just right. In cities like Tashkent and Samarkand, daytime highs hover around 68°F (20°C), and evenings cool down just enough to make an al fresco dinner feel refreshing.
The desert has finally cooled to a manageable level, so trips to Khiva or the Kyzylkum feel much easier. Meanwhile, the mountains are still open for hiking, offering crisp air and trails lined with fall leaves.
October is also a fantastic time to discover Uzbekistan’s food and drink scene. It’s still harvest season, so markets are packed with fresh produce. In Samarkand, you can go wine tasting in the countryside, while in Tashkent, street food stalls serve up seasonal snacks and warm cups of tea under shady trees.
It’s a popular month, so accommodation can fill up quickly — especially in the historic cities. Reservation ahead is a good idea. But with so much to enjoy — from cooler deserts to mountain hikes and food markets bursting with flavor — October delivers on several of the top reasons to visit Uzbekistan.
